Overview
The Southern California Conference for Undergraduate Research (SCCUR) provides a forum for the presentation of the best research, scholarship, and creative activities of undergraduate students in the region and encourages communication of innovative achievements across disciplines.
The conference is broadly multi-disciplinary, including the arts, humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, and applied sciences.
Students present their scholarly work in 15-minute seminar presentations chaired by faculty moderators, poster sessions, or exhibitions or performances.
This year’s Southern California Conference for Undergraduate Research 2024 will be held at California State University, San Bernardino in person on Saturday, November 23rd, 20204.
Cal State San Bernardino, at the foot of the San Bernardino Mountains, was named by students as the most beautiful campus in the CSU system. Serving the Inland Empire region, its nationally accredited College of Business and Public Administration offers an MBA tailored for executives. In addition, the university has a nationally acclaimed writing program and highly respected offerings in computer science, geographic information and decision sciences, psychology, public health administration, and accounting and finance. The university has a leading state-accredited teacher preparation program that is one of the nation’s largest. Courses are also offered at off-campus locations, including a permanent satellite campus in Palm Desert.

Janeya Griffin
The Commercializer® turned Space Revolutionist™️
Janeya Griffin is a strategy consultant, serial entrepreneur, and advocate for intellectual property, social justice, inclusive innovation, and generational wealth within historically excluded communities. An HBCU STEM graduate and NASA Technology Transfer Specialist turned entrepreneur, Janeya founded The Commercializer®, LLC, bridging resources to marginalized communities and HBCUs. She also co-founded ConCreates, a multi-award-winning agency that reshapes the narrative of individuals with criminal histories.
With a Master’s in Space Leadership, Business, and Policy from Thunderbird School of Global Management, Janeya now leads the Equity Space Alliance, advocating for diversity, equity, and inclusion in the new space economy.
In this keynote, Janeya explores how research transcends traditional boundaries—it’s present in everyday life and career pivots. She’ll share how strategic networking and intentional research can drive real-world impact, inspiring students to see research as a tool for global transformation and community empowerment.
Abstract Submission
Undergraduate students who wish to present their faculty-mentored research, scholarship, and creative activities at SCCUR must complete the online abstract submission form.
Abstracts are reviewed by faculty from appropriate disciplines and accepted, returned for revision, or declined.
Students, before submitting your abstract for SCCUR 2024, it is important to consult with your faculty mentor. All accepted abstracts will be published in the conference program and on the website.

Who is eligible to submit an abstract?
All undergraduate students from any higher education institution nationwide who have participated in faculty-guided research or creative activities.
High school students who have participated in sustained college-level or equivalent faculty-guided research or creative activities.
Recent graduates wishing to present their faculty-guided undergraduate research or scholarly activities.

Volunteer for the conference
We appreciate your interest in volunteering for the conference; however, we no longer need additional volunteers at this time.
We are inviting students (undergraduate and graduate), alumni, staff, faculty, and administrators from higher education institutions across the country to volunteer for the conference.
We need volunteers to assist with:
conference set up or tear down,
on-site registration,
greeting and supporting visitors and participants,
and helping with conference rooms and tech support, among other tasks.
If you are a graduate student, faculty member, or administrator, your expertise is particularly valuable. You may sign up to review conference abstracts in your field of study/research or moderate a session, contributing to the academic quality of the conference.
Any help you can provide will be greatly appreciated!

Parking for SCCUR 2024 is free and no parking pass is required! Please park in Lot N, conveniently located near the conference venue.

From University Parkway, turn right on Northpark.
Continue straight until you reach Campus Cir., and turn left.
Follow the road until you reach Education Lane, and make left into Lot N.
Directions to Lot N from Kendal Dr.
Turn left onto Campus Parkway.
Turn right onto Northpark.
Turn left onto Ash St.
Turn left again and continue on the road past the first stop sign.
At the second stop sign, turn right onto Campus Cir.
Follow the road until you reach Education Lane, and make right into Lot N.
